Mavrick Afonso
Born and raised in Boston’s Four Corners, Mavrick is a lifelong community leader who has served in City government for nearly a decade and now works in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities to lower housing costs and deliver on the state’s five-year housing plan. A graduate of Colby College and Northeastern University’s MBA program, he first found his voice in student government and through founding a youth nonprofit in high school, and has continued building coalitions ever since. Mavrick is running for City Council to bring bold, independent leadership to District 7—fighting to lower costs, close the wealth gap, and put the voices of Roxbury, Dorchester, the South End, and Fenway front and center.
