Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Dorchester by a single undocumented mother, Mejia learned early to speak up for those ignored by institutions meant to serve them. A Boston Public Schools graduate and first in the family to earn a college degree and buy a home, she has dedicated her life to justice, equity, and amplifying community voices—from founding the education nonprofit CPLAN to leading voter engagement and national social justice campaigns. Since first winning City Council At-Large seat by a single vote, Mejia have championed language access, financial inclusion, reparations, LGBTQIA2S+ protections, and immigrant rights, always governing in lockstep with community. Now, after three terms, Mejia remains committed to bold, independent leadership that builds a Boston where all voices are heard and all families can thrive—because all means ALL.
